Gloucestershire Gardens open in March 2025

Sunday 9th

Algars Manor: Station Road, Iron Acton, BS37 9TB                                   

Open1- 4, Admission £5, children free. Tea and biscuits in March. 

2 acres of woodland garden beside River Frome, mill stream, native plants mixed with collections of 60 magnolias and 70 camellias, rhododendrons, azaleas, eucalyptus and other unsual trees and shrubs. Snowdrops, daffodils and other early spring flowers.

Home Farm, Newent Lane, Huntley, Huntley GL19 3HQ

Open11- 4, Admission £4.50, children free. Online booking or cash on the day.Visits also by arrangement Jan to Apr for groups of up to 30. 

Set in elevated position with exceptional views. 1m walk through woods and fields to show carpets of spring flowers. Enclosed garden with fern border, sundial and heather bed. White and mixed shrub borders. Stout footwear advisable in winter. Two delightful cafés within a mile. Dogs allowed. Not wheelchair accessible.

Rock House, Elberton, BS35 4AQ

Open 11– 4, Admission £5, children free. Cash only. Visits also by arrangement.

Two-acre garden. Woodland vistas with swathes of snowdrops and carpets of daffodils, some unusual. Spring flowers, cottage garden plants and climbing roses in season. Old yew tree, maturing cedar tree and pond.

81: Trench Hill, Sheepscombe GL6 6TZ

Open 11– 4, Admission £5, children free. Home-made teas. Gluten free and dairy free usually available. Refreshments in aid of other charities chosen by hosts. Visits also by arrangement 10 February to 15 September for groups of up to 35. Groups using a coach must discuss the size with owners due to narrow lanes. 

Approximately 3 acres set in a small woodland with panoramic views. Variety of herbaceous and mixed borders, rose garden, extensive vegetable plots, wildflower areas, plantings of spring bulbs with thousands of snowdrops and hellebores, woodland walk, two small ponds, waterfall and larger conservation pond. Interesting wooden sculptures, many within the garden. Cultivated using organic principles. Children’s play area. 2022 Featured on Gardeners’ World TV programme – tulips – also in National and local Magazines. Mostly wheelchair accessible but some steps and slopes.
